120. 175 GW renewable energy by 2022; more nations in International Solar Alliance
Status: The installed capacity for renewable sources of energy stood at 134 GW on Dec 2023, compared to 76.87 GW as of Feb 2019. Renewable sources include Solar, Wind, Biomass, Small Hydro and Urban & Industrial Waste Power. The International Solar Alliance (ISA), India’s brainchild, is a treaty-based alliance of 121 potential nations which fall between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. It aims to encourage the member nations to increase their solar energy production by exploiting their geographical advantages.
