130. Eliminating TB from India by 2025, ahead of SDG target
Status: The government has set a target to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025, while the target under SDG 3.3 is to eliminate it by 2030. Under the national strategic plan 2017-2025, the government had set the target of reporting 77 cases per lakh population by 2023 and 44 such cases by 2025. However, the WHO report pegs this number at 199 such cases for 2022 (latest data available). Similarly, the target for TB mortality was 6 deaths per lakh population by 2023 and 3 such deaths by 2025, but 23 such deaths were reported in 2022. The incidence rate of tuberculosis has rather increased. i ii iii iv
