118. Supplying quality electricity to all consumers
Status: The govt introduced the Electricity (Rights of Consumer) Rules that provide for minimum service standards that the power distribution firms are expected to maintain, in addition to the compensation in case of failure to meet those standards, timely grievance redressal, rights to transparent billing and payments, and 24×7 electricity. Other key steps include launching the Consumer Service Rating of Discoms, and Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2022 to introduce competition in the power sector.
