220. Strengthening Anganwadis to detecting disabilities at early stage
Status: The government launched the Anganwadi Protocol for Divyang Children in November 2023 to identify early disability signs in children aged 0-6 years during their Anganwadi visits. Studies show 30% of disabilities in India are preventable if they are caught early. Under this protocol, Anganwadi workers are trained to identify signs indicating that a child is developing slower than others. Not only the Anganwadi workers will work with children on new activities to stimulate their senses, but their families will also receive support to ensure such children reach their full potential. The progress of children is tracked through the POSHAN tracker so that children receive the best possible care. i ii
