Status: On the Alternative Dispute Resolution front, the government has enacted the Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) law to set up the Arbitration Council of India and frame policies concerning the grading of arbitral institutions. It has also enacted the Meditation Bill, 2023 to facilitate mediation for resolution of civil and commercial disputes and reduce the burden on the judiciary. Further, more cases were disposed of through Lok Adalats in the past five years; the government also introduced e-Lok Adalats for those who were otherwise unable to participate in the Lok Adalats. Additionally, the government has set up the India International Arbitration Centre in Delhi to make India a global hub for arbitration. i ii iii
